In the burning woods Carl gathers the four soon-to-explode war mage corpses and Stalwart’s scattered loot while Victory relays that the War Mage Rebellion broke Conscription to kill Stalwart, then teleported to Juice Box and Ferdinand, prompting Drick to call foul. With Eris the chaos goddess now driven by a Hekla look-alike named Nami, Tagg fleeing on zebra-back, and Shi Maria whispering that he is a puppet on rails, Carl and Elle finally step through the dying portal into the Madness.
