The High Elves’ Stolen Shield
Were-castor lore about the sixth floor’s deep history: when Scolopendra unleashed her nine-tier attack, the bush elves and most of the Selva were devastated, but the High Elf royal court walked out “smelling like water lilies.” The whispered reason: long ago, while the great centipede still slept, the elves descended to harvest the soul gems that power their magic, then fled as she stirred, stealing an artifact that shields its bearers from her wrath. The cookbook frames Scolopendra’s attack as a slow-charging damage-reflect (every spell ever fired at her, including Imogen’s own Transfiguration, hurled back at once) which is why a transfiguration spell and a rage spell rode in her cloud, and why the Chee who’d already survived Imogen’s version were largely immune.
