Two Singers on the List

Elle McGibbons, Zhang and Tran leave for the safe room to put the new plan to Li Na, taking Linus with them after the half-corporeal tourist starts stroking Donut's tail. Mercenary ownership of the fleshmancer has been signed over to Carl and Donut's guild, and Grigori — made to brush Donut — speaks for the first time to endorse her sunglasses. Carl explains the mechanics of the attempt: the guild's entrance list holds few two-singer songs, a duet gives each performer their own gauge so only one need pass, and Donut's handful of lines makes her the likelier of the two. He drinks a dose Mordecai compounded from several potions to beat their cooldowns, landing Honeyed, Yo-Yo Ma'd and Dio'd at once, and holds the Gelded Choirboy scroll until the last second. Donut zaps Mongo out of storage so he will not miss the performance, leaving Jamal and some slugs to guard Hedy, and the gremlin DJ calls Princess Donut and Carl up to sing 'Take on Me' by A-ha — at which point Dwight stabs her in the face with his horn.
