Akuma's Note

A generated gremlin tugs at Carl's waist in the garage and presses a warm folded invoice into his costumed paw. The visible side is a crude drawing aimed at Carl's mother; his Escape Plan skill then resolves the real message underneath, signed by Akuma. It tells him to keep the note quiet, kill two teams in the next heat, and come alone to the shop when it opens after the race and ask for the top-shelf upgrades so he is taken to the back — where Akuma will explain, and offer to smuggle friends to the Pineapple Cabaret.

Book 8 appearances

• Chapter 23 — Handed over while the gremlins are still furious about the ones fed to Prison Pocket, and read only after Zev's forced announcement ends.
• Chapter 24 — Carl copies it into his notepad, places Akuma as the War Mage Rebellion leader, and decides he will not kill on an order he does not understand.
