Carl

A 27-year-old marine technician from Seattle who runs out into a sub-zero night in his boxers to fetch his ex's cat, seconds before every building on Earth is crushed for the dungeon. Six-foot-three, gym-built, and far tougher and more level-headed than the show's producers expect.

• Chapter 1 — First appearance: the night the world ends.
• Chapter 8 — First real crawl: the lava llama.
• Chapter 11 — The dynamite triggers a Neighborhood Boss: the Hoarder, a human warped into a garbage troll. Carl kills it.
• Chapter 18 — The cart bomb kills the goblin war chieftain, and the young in the room. Carl wrestles with what the dungeon made him do.
• Chapter 26 — Traps and pops the Ball of Swine borough boss, dropping the I-5 stairwell forcefield.
• Chapter 41 — Tricks the Rage Elemental into the stairwell hole, where the descent rule dissolves it, saving the residents.
• Chapter 42 — Hauled onto the Maestro’s Death Watch, he hijacks the game to save two crawlers instead of letting them die.
• Chapter 47 — Floor One winds down as Donut’s new velociraptor pet, Mongo, is named and trained.
