Archie Mu

A crawler Carl knows chiefly as the ladybug guy, and who had already quit the tenth floor through the Pineapple Cabaret before the racing reached its final heats. He appears in the crawl only as an absence: photographs on the wall of a fourth-floor what-if apartment, where the System has rebuilt the marriage he no longer has. Donut fills in the rest — he is divorced, his wife hates him, and he went into the dungeon with his son, who did not stay found. In the wedding photograph his eyes and the boy's are left intact and only the wife's are crossed out, which by Carl's reading of the floor means the boy is still alive somewhere.

• Chapter 75 — Absent from the race but everywhere in apartment 411: his wedding photograph, his crossed-out wife, and wall after wall of pictures of his son, with Donut supplying the divorce, the missing boy and the fact that he is one of the crawlers who walked out through the Pineapple Cabaret.
