Human shell · the wife Archie Mu no longer has
The Scottish woman installed in the fourth-floor what-if apartment, where Archie Mu's marriage was never dissolved. She is standing on a kitchen chair screaming when the racers arrive, and by the time they have crossed the carpet she is on the phone begging Archie to pick up and then asking, with a rising note, where her son has gone. Her eyes are stitched shut and crossed out in the photographs, the System's shorthand on this floor for someone who is already dead in the real timeline. When the racers pass through and the loop starts to come apart, she claws at the stitches until they open, in front of the boy.
