Item · debuts Book 4, Chapter 14 — “The Infiltrator”
Celestial Grenade
Summons a god for sixty seconds
A rare, ruinously expensive ninth-floor-tier weapon developed by the nuns of Enyo to win converts at spearpoint: thrown, it summons a god into the world for sixty seconds. If the wielder worships a specific deity, it calls THAT god and grants them a 60-second Divine Intervention aura; otherwise it summons a random god and no buff. Maggie’s grenade would have summoned Algos, the god of pain: enough to kill everyone in Hump Town in seconds. Carl snatches it before it can deploy; that the Skull Empire spent this much just to kill one pantsless human stuns even Mordecai.
Book 4 appearances
- Chapter 14 — Carl grabs it from Maggie’s hand; Mordecai marvels at the Skull Empire’s overkill.
- Chapter 31 — Carl throws it at Quan mid-battle; because Carl himself has just chosen to worship Emberus, the grenade summons Emberus (drawn by his missing son Orthrus) and grants Carl a Divine Intervention invulnerability buff, saving Carl and Donut from the blast.
