The galaxy’s once-every-other-season fan convention for Dungeon Crawler World: thousands of physical attendees and billions of virtual ones, with panels, vendors, cosplay and special guests. Carl’s Platinum Fan Box “reward” (run by Titan Entertainment) drafts him in virtually for three events: judging a juvenile art contest, the “Crawling Through the Ages” panel (moderated by Circe Took of the Hive), and an autograph-and-keepsake session, plus paid duo likenesses with the Popov Brothers, refunds guaranteed if Carl doesn’t survive to attend. Mordecai notes they haven’t used a current-season crawler at the con in over a century; the first human prep teams landed in 1936 and the first sci-fi convention followed in 1938.

Book 5 appearances

• Chapter 21 — Carl’s Platinum Fan Box prize: booked virtually for three con events.
• Chapter 31 — Event one: Carl judges a kids’ art contest beside the gleener Hurk and a sleeping camel playwright, quietly rigging a few votes for security favors.
• Chapter 32 — Event two looms: the “Crawling Through the Ages” panel, moderated by Circe Took, mother of the hunter Xindy he killed, before a hostile sold-out crowd.
• Chapter 33 — Event two: drugged by Valtay security to loosen his inhibitions, Carl flips the panel, mocks Circe to her face, survives her table-cleaving strike, and crowdsources the room for the best way to kill the mantises he’s about to face. The Apothecary’s spokeswoman intervenes to let him keep talking.
• Chapter 40 — Event three begins: Carl’s first time physically beside another crawler (the two-headed Popov Brothers, Dmitri the Visionary and Maxim the Bogatyr); Zev tells him a replacement sponsor will be revealed at the end of the signing.
• Chapter 41 — Event three concludes: the autograph-and-keepsake session, capped by the reveal of his replacement sponsor and a first benefactor box.
