Mobs that take the stairs dissolve
A core dungeon rule Rory and Mordecai both hinted at: monsters can't use the stairwells, a mob that tries to descend simply dissolves halfway down. Carl weaponizes it, luring the near-unkillable Rage Elemental onto an oil slick and into the stairwell hole, where the dungeon's own rules destroy it (no XP awarded, since he didn't 'kill' it).
