Diah

A child's voice that surfaces from within the conscripted Lucia Mar whenever her dog Gus wanders out of range. Speaking through Lucia's body, Diah explains that the host is really ‘Lucia with Alexandro,’ present only when the dogs are near; when a dog wanders off, Lucia fades and one of the trapped children takes turns being able to see. Diah describes a cold, dark room with a hurtful ‘river’ of whispering sad voices running through it: the first clue that Lucia is a prison for some 120,000 surface children held hostage to the Eulogist.
