Miss Quill's conquest ritual
Miss Quill's plot: her krasue minions pluck a feather from every skyfowl or chickadee who enters the mall's shops, delivering them to her to fuel The Final War, her scheme to reclaim the Over City. Remex, her husband, serves as an unwitting conduit for the spell. Women brought to him are twisted into krasue or, when the change fails, killed and dumped in nearby alleys: the mystery that started the quest.
