Meet-and-Greet Program

A reception programme built for the tenth floor long before anyone reached it: viewers would travel to the planet, watch the end of a race from the stands, and spend time afterward with a favourite crawler. Zev says it sold out immediately and then collapsed, because the quarantine lets visitors into the Earth system but never lets them leave — all five hundred bookings cancelled except one. The holdout is a soother who could not hire a flight and bought his own yacht to get there, wears a shirt printed with a cartoon nude of Elle McGibbons, and wants her to sign a giant pillow with her picture on it. Elle points out that only the safe room rules are keeping him alive.
