The Hunt & the Grace Period

The defining mechanic of the sixth floor, announced by the System. Hundreds of registered alien Hunters are turned loose on the jungle to track crawlers and strip them of their gear. Traditionally hunters start at level 30 and grind up the lower floors; because Carl’s cohort arrived early, every hunter is bumped to level 50, and registration stays open to the last moment (360 hunters expected to double or triple). A 30-hour grace period sequesters all hunters in Zockau first, but their pre-placed minions and traps are already loose in the jungle. “Now get out there and kill, kill, kill!”

Book 5 appearances

• Chapter 1 — The System welcomes crawlers to the Hunting Grounds and starts the grace-period countdown.
• Chapter 2 — Hunter Zabit’s Night Weasel pets, loosed before the Hunt, ambush Carl in the dryad town.
• Chapter 5 — Carl pre-empts the Hunt by raiding the sequestered hunters in Zockau.
