Vadim Zbar

One of three survivors of the flooded Water Quadrant: a spotted, gecko-like Kuhli covered head to toe in dagger sheaths, class “Gut Rearranger” (a healer/rogue hybrid). On Earth he was a notorious Ukrainian cosmetic surgeon: billboards, botched-surgery lawsuits, and rumored to have fathered fifty-some children on his own clients. Emotionless and matter-of-fact, he volunteers to guide Carl, Katia and Tran back down to the Akula to shut off its pump, navigating the drowned sub from memory. His barbarian-themed companion Britney Proskurina (a Lv 27 Pit Fighter) flatly refuses to ever re-enter the water.

Book 4 appearances

• Chapter 25 — Leads the dive into the Akula, recounting how Chris alone passed the sentinel gun to kill the bugbear boss.
• Chapter 26 — Trapped with Carl in the bridge as Quetzalcoatlus drags the sub down and Lusca attacks.
• Chapter 27 — Panics, seals himself in the last escape pod, and dies when pain-amplifier jellyfish flood it on the way up.
