Prison Pocket and Party Foul

Two gatekeepers block the twin roads: Prison Pocket, a level 170 Macropus Dominus, and Party Foul on the far track, both grieving males whose joeys starved in the endless storm and who now want crawler-sized replacements for their caustic pouches. One live captive in a kangaroo suit turns out to be an Upgrade Engineer. Genesis proposes a truce for the rest of the race while Nico threatens anyone who steps toward Penelope and orders Pontiff to kill Donut if she does. Across the valley Chiyome burns Party Foul's pouch, and the boss eats the razor fox stuffed inside it to heal straight back to full. Donut examines the dead joeys, reports they starved, and finds their inventories hold nothing but skin, which Carl takes as the clue.
