Heat One

The truck's dashboard Navitron 1000 lays out heat one: 53 kilometers of flat asphalt toward the Caves of the Screeching Death Manatees, six-hour limit, no live standings until it is upgraded. Carl drives blind at about 70 miles an hour with Donut's Torch spell for headlights, past a muscle car, a loping bear, a skittering bug, a minivan, something that hisses like a dog and a tumbleweed with a unicorn's head in it. Prepotente broadcasts a warning: kill more than one opponent in a heat and the dungeon will make up the numbers with crawler teams. At the cave mouth the party finds a burning minivan, a bus-sized ladybug being eaten and a manatee the size of a house.
