Three Cars Over the Line

The skull blocking the finish line turns out to belong to Tem, a colossal beetle-like being Odette killed the moment he left the Nothing. Waves three and four come up through the asphalt and down out of the sky. Carl's message to Chiyome bounces — the System will not route mail to deceased NPCs — and both the Wild Hunt and the Jugglers are eliminated for the death of all their members; both of Carl's ghoul mercenaries die, the second losing his head on the roof. Donut chains Temporary Macaroni into a pasta tunnel while Dorota rips a sugar hermit off her face, then Gluteus blacks out at the wheel. Carl steers from the truck's hood with Donut on the accelerator, kicks Tem's skull apart with Daughter's Kiss, and takes Dwight's cannon shot broadside; the food truck, the GTO and the vine cartwheel over the line together. The Royal Court of Princess Donut takes first.
