A being who lived inside the Nothing until a few days before the race, when Odette killed him the moment he appeared. The System AI parted the corpse out for playable races on the grounds that he looked good, and parked what is left of his head — a colourful husk like a three-storey Hercules beetle's skull — across the Heat Three finish line as the sugar hermits' migration target. The AI's info box closes by suggesting Carl note the size of the thing, because Tem has friends who are still alive.

Book 8 appearances

• Chapter 32 — His skull blocks the bottom of the Heat Three hill; the AI's box names him, credits Odette with wasting him and admits the corpse was harvested for races, then warns that his surviving friends are the same size. Carl shatters the skull with his kangaroo feet crossing the line.
