Onikuma

A bear running in Heat Three, called Oni by Chiyome. Carl's Denial of Service missiles detonate early over team One Fine Pig and the mucus goes everywhere, Onikuma included, and Chiyome's last messages report that the track's grade is too steep for him and that he keeps stumbling.

Book 8 appearances

• Chapter 32 — Slimed by the early-detonating Denial of Service missiles and unable to keep his feet on the steep grade, according to Chiyome's messages from the middle of the pack.
• Chapter 33 — Onikuma and Old Shuck cross the finish line after their teams are wiped out, then blink away; Carl concludes the mount is saved when only the riders die.
• Chapter 52 — Hedy rates the Onikuma a good mount and worth taking with the key, adding that picking up a beast would come with another gremlin for the garage.
• Chapter 87 — Taken out of the razor foxes' garage with one of the keys Donut looted from Dwight and moved into their own, on the stated grounds that they will need him for the parade.
• Chapter 88 — Snuffling along the floor of the enlarged garage two slots down from the truck, and roars back at Bianca when she objects to the new arrivals.
• Chapter 90 — Mixed into the procession as one of its three giant animals, carrying Rosetta in a glittering red gown and a magical Gurkha hat, and draped in a black-and-gold blanket worth twenty per cent constitution.
• Chapter 91 — Carries Rosetta near the front of the procession as it moves onto the parade route.
