Tilting at the War God

Grull enters the realm in the middle of the fifth heat and hunts Carl through the steel factory while the track simply ends and the truck drives off it, gliding down on Bubble Buddy and the Limbo upgrade. The god's axe wave strips the roof, a tire and the shield; Donut casts Laundry Day and ejects the Maestro out of Grull's chest into the molten river, which only splatters him, because no outside tourist can be killed on the tenth floor. Grull has not come for Carl at all but for Corcunda, who broke faith by splitting himself, so the mantaur gives Dong his scarf, kneels to be ridden one last time and refuses to let the party run. Donut casts Big-Ass Magnet on Dong's lance, the screws from a smashed crate shred the slag elementals into puddles around the charging pair, and the lance reaches the war god. Grull calls it a good death and withdraws to the twelfth floor; the Royal Court crosses the line with fifteen seconds to spare, fourth in heat five behind Team Sparkles, Team Free Love and Team Flamengo, with the quest won and Dong Quixote and Corcunda dead.
