Dong Quixote's Last Charge
The end of Dong and Corcunda, on the run from a god they cannot outrun. Grull has come to smite Corcunda for breaking faith when he had himself split in two, and the mantaur decides the god will only leave once the smiting is done. He hugs Dong, gives him the scarf that is the only thing he wears, and kneels onto his middle arms to be ridden one final time. Dong, health nearly gone, produces the massive lance nobody has seen since the day Carl gave him a sock, takes Donut's Big-Ass Magnet on the shaft, says his goodbyes and rides out of the back of the moving truck. The screw storm the spell drags in melts the slag elementals closing on them, the lance reaches the god of war, Grull pronounces it a good death and returns to the twelfth floor, and the Royal Court makes the finish line with fifteen seconds left.
