Bad News, and a Drunk Announcement
Bucket Boy, Bigs and Samantha come into the garage asking where Dong and Corcunda are, and Carl moves everyone to the couch to tell them. Samantha finds Grigori, who she says has been hidden from her; he corrects her that he is no mere fleshmancer but Grigori the Placid, the most renowned flesh sculptor in the dungeon, and she hauls him off to be examined and to go body shopping in town, starting with a prostitute she has already picked out at a club. The floor-wide announcement comes from Cascadia rather than Zev, drunk and openly indifferent, and between insults she gives away the endgame: two races left run back to back, three teams per heat in the seventh with only the winner surviving, an Outreach Guild reachable between the sixth and seventh for anyone who wants a deal, a team still obliged to race with whoever is left if a member escapes, the first level to carry a floor boss, and a three-hour cap on the eleventh floor. The rest of the broadcast is aimed at Cumberland, her dead husband, whose identity Elle guesses on air for five bucks. Elle and Imani fall into Meadow Lark stories while Hedy waits with her tablet and the audience's latest voted upgrade.
