Character · debuts Book 8, Chapter 68 — “Bad News, and a Drunk Announcement”
Cumberland
Cascadia's late husband · named on a floor-wide broadcast
The dead man the announcer keeps addressing over the dungeon's public channel. Cascadia opens her broadcast by pointing out that she is not dead but Cumberland is, and between the rules for the last two heats she works fifty years of marriage out on air: he told her she would ruin everything and she concedes he was right, she says she is glad he is dead, and she itemises his spending, his girlfriends and the orbital habitat she paid for out of her own job, which he and his mother were blown out of. Donut asks the whole dungeon who Cumberland is; Elle wins five bucks off the guess that he is the ex-husband. He never appears.

- Chapter 68 — Named repeatedly through Cascadia's drunken announcement, which slides between the rules for the final heats and a tirade at him; Donut demands to know who he is and Elle collects on the ex-husband bet.
