Blowing the Roof

Carl sets off the poleax charges he had built on the previous floor, punching a ragged near-vertical shaft from the lobby to a roof clustered with portals to the eleventh floor. Osvaldo launches himself clear the instant the way opens, having left a grenade, poison and poison dart bombs behind to kill his own mount Bruna and legalise an on-foot finish; three potion balls, Donut's shield, a stand of conjured trees and half a dozen emergency gremlins keep the gnu alive. Osvaldo is stunned against the portal wall and Britney Proskurina kills him for the bounty, eliminating Team Flamengo and leaving the crawlers the only team in their heat. Samantha explains that Britney now carries Ysalte's memorial crystal and needs a plinth at the Basilica or the Vulgar Temple to be rid of her. Carl lays out the reasoning for sending the stranded crawlers into the dungeon's catchall holding area instead of the Pineapple Cabaret, and then the Russian crawlers try to run the gate anyway, so Donut crushes their Cadillac with Astral Paw and takes three player-killer skulls in under a second.
