Donut Crushes the Cadillac
The Russian crawlers were the one group Imani could not talk down. Two of them had wanted the Pineapple Cabaret and a third worshipped a god, which made him ineligible to drive the heat and cost them the cut; Imani and Elle had a standing plan to blow their Cadillac sky-high if they refused a deal, and Imani had spent the whole race pleading with them instead. They told the crawlers they would try Carl's holding-area idea, and then, with the lobby still raining rubble and the rest of the convoy already reversing out, the Cadillac shot to the middle of the floor and flipped up ninety degrees like a rocket about to launch, making a run for the gate — where it would have had to kill Imani, Elle and Chris to get out. The APV and Chris's truck stripped its shield with spellfire, Prepotente threw something that fuzzed the shield out entirely, and in that gap Donut cast Astral Paw and crushed the car like a tin can. It simply ceased to exist. From Donut's shout to the crush was less than a second, and three new player-killer skulls formed over her before Carl could finish a thought. In the aftermath she tells Elle it upsets her less than it used to; she is only sad she had to do it at all, having never even spoken to them.
Book 8 appearances
- Chapter 83 — The Russian Cadillac breaks for the exit, the APV and Chris's truck strip its shield, Prepotente fuzzes it out and Donut's Astral Paw flattens the car, earning her three player-killer skulls in under a second.
- Chapter 84 — Elle talks Donut through it in party chat — the tracksuit crawlers had a way out and chose to trick them, and would have killed her, Imani and Chris at the gate — and offers Ivan's scrap-metal bridge story as further comfort.
