This Is Our Revolution
At the arena's white door — built to a scale that fits whatever is inside — Carl says goodbye to Donut, tells her he loves her, and sends her off on Mongo with Rend behind her. Tipid is overruled and evicted from the cab; the sluggalos take the wheel and open a deep fryer in a moving vehicle over Carl's objections. With forty-five minutes on the collapse clock he declares on the jumbotron that the crawlers are done playing by the dungeon's rules, drops the Unwashed display to reveal Dwight's magic missile launcher bolted to the roof, and drives in. Inside: a dozen football fields of packed dirt already running red, thousands of mobs teleporting in, the surviving stand-ins hunted down in their masks, the towering white tree with Krakaren Prime coiled at its crown, and bleachers of horribles sitting in silent witness. Carl finally understands what the mobs are — aggregate intelligence, Primals all the way down — and spends his first stand-in choice on Scolopendra.
