The All-Tree

The floor-spanning tree that eats spells

A single, enormous magic tree whose roots run beneath the entire sixth floor: its main body lies far below, between the disputed lands and the celestial realm, and the small white-barked trees Signet gathers her people around are merely outgrowths of it. Any forest-kin within a few hundred meters of an outcropping is shielded from magic attacks: the tree drinks the incoming spell and turns it back on the caster (killing that outcropping, which regrows in months). It doesn’t care who is good or evil: it protects anyone with the forest in their blood, which is why the High Elves keep their castle in a grove of them, and why the Skull Empire hunters who cast lightning near one zap themselves.
