Asher

A six-year-old boy hiding in the back of the Iowa trailer, and, unmistakably from the dominant family nose and untamable hair, Carl’s previously-unknown half-brother. Son of Carl’s dying father and a young stepmother who is herself a near-twin of Carl’s late mother, Asher is timid, neglected, and afraid of storms and lightning (his crayon drawings are all lightning-struck cities). Within months he will be killed when the dungeon collapses Earth. Carl, unable to touch him through the recording, promises the boy he will never be forgotten: the loss the producers truly meant him to feel.
