Carl Leaves the Royal Court of Princess Donut
Carl finally does the thing he has been warning Donut about since the floor opened, and does it for the reason he has never quite said out loud: if he dies in the arena at the end of the parade, she should lose nothing. Two minutes before the countdown expires he clicks through the confirmation, leaves the Royal Court, and has his personal space segregated from hers, then immediately accepts Safehome Yolanda's invitation so the room rejoins the guild. Most of his crafting tables, the bomber's studio included, stay on Donut's side to make rejoining easier, leaving him one room, a bathroom and his food boxes. The System strips his royal bodyguard title and takes Donut's with it, and will not let her issue a new one, which she considers grossly unfair given that she is not the one who left.
Book 8 appearances
- Chapter 88 — Carl states twice over chat that he is still leaving the party, once while Mordecai is dangling a class that might make it unnecessary.
- Chapter 90 — Executed minutes before the parade: Carl leaves the Royal Court, his space is segregated and rejoined to the guild under Safehome Yolanda, his crafting tables stay with Donut, a second door appears in the garage wall, and both of their titles vanish.
