Damien's Final-Heat Announcement
With Zev shut in at headquarters, the briefing before the seventh heat comes from a male voice no crawler has heard, who never introduces himself; Pontiff names him as Damien, a behind-the-scenes fixture who outlasts whoever happens to be running the season. The contents: safe-room access is suspended while the teams prepare, the Outreach Guilds are open and will close the instant the heat starts, taking a deal is completely safe, and every former crawler not classed as a terrorist receives center system citizenship once indentureship ends. The showrunners also disavow the Pineapple Cabaret and accept no responsibility for anything that happens to crawlers in unauthorized parts of the World Dungeon's infrastructure. For survivors, garages and their contents transfer to the eleventh floor, hired NPCs standing in a garage or a vehicle transfer with them, and safe rooms reopen once the heat begins — and on arrival there will be ninety minutes to build a themed parade float out of whatever the garage and safe room hold. He signs off by advising everyone to take a deal, on the grounds that nobody is surviving this heat.
