Duende

Common, foot-tall, rag-clothed gnome-things that swarm Havana's wrecked streets by the hundred: angry little homeless-looking men with sharp teeth and no magic, who tackle the intangible ghost cyclists for their shoes and cause most of the car crashes in the area. Physically weak and uncoordinated (they squabble with each other for first crack at prey), they die easily; Mongo eats them by the mouthful. The System AI's entry on them is curt to the point of contempt and, in a running gag, names one of them “Mordecai.” Carl grinds them to fill his new Soul Reaper essence bar and lands his first Daughter's Kiss, vaporizing a fleeing duende and the sidewalk beneath it.
