Fantasy Hunter Camp

Where the hunters come from — a hunt cosplay resort

The unsettling truth behind the Hunt, pried from the captured Dream accountant Akland: most hunters aren’t warriors but tourists. The camp is run by Vrah’s family, but once a cycle, the Dream rents out a whole moon and lets its own employees and relatives play-act as crawler-hunters in a safe LARP: “it’s not real, but it’s fun.” The best players win a spot in the ninth floor’s faction-wars army, and some are then offered real money to come down to the Hunting Grounds for the genuine article. Akland, a soy-shipping accountant who “did well at camp,” never expected actual danger, until Carl. It reframes the hunters as paying fans who turned a game into murder.
