Formidable’s Failsafe Plot

King Rust's parlay confession: his daughter Princess Formidable hijacked one of his cruisers and a Skull Empire marine detachment to seize the monitor station orbiting Venus and manually trigger the system failsafe, novaing the star and killing everyone in ~5 hours. The satellite is impenetrable, but the Skull Empire builds backdoors into everything it manufactures, a secret she exposed to the whole galaxy. She believes the AI's insanity is contagious to the center system; Rust calls it a crackpot Nebular theory and begs Carl to plead with her on behalf of Earth's people. Carl plays along knowing the failsafe is already dead, because he disabled it.
