Character · debuts Book 4, Chapter 29 — “Orthrus”
Geyrun
murdered god · son of Emberus
A god who was murdered before Carl ever reached the dungeon, and whose unsolved death becomes the longest-running quest anyone hands him. Geyrun is the son of Emberus; the two-headed puppy Orthrus was his, and is first identified on the floor as a bereft pet of Geyrun before Emberus reclaims him. Emberus charges Carl with finding out who did it and why, and the trail runs through the princes of Sheol, a high priestess of Nekhebit, and Emberus's own brother Hellik, who volunteers that he did not do it. The dungeon's gods have politics, and this is the murder at the middle of them.
