The Brain-Worm Assault

The opening strike of the northern battle, in which Reaver paratrooper transports, invisible Madness Monkeywrenchers, and Valtay gondii brain worms hit the Posse base at once. The worms had assassinated several of Carl's shield mages, crawled into their ears, reanimated the corpses, and used them to switch off the castle's interior wall protections from afar. Carl realized the betrayal when dead-listed mages still showed as active dots; he beat one reanimated Armored Mage to death and stomped the emerging worm (named Goldblum) by hand. The infiltrators reached the base through the Bamboozle saferoom door.
