A Viceroy Portable Surgical and Scientific Exploration Unit: a chandelier-like chrome machine bristling with dozens of mechanical arms and surgical tools that hangs from the ceiling of Architect Houston's theater. Marketed as portable healthcare for far-flung species, its true purpose is Viceroy science: it will take any creature apart and put it back together, no questions asked, but never for free. Houston used it to make most of his discoveries, and at the end he has it surgically fusing him to a flayed changeling in pursuit of the Beautiful Place.
