The aristocratic rulers of the Hunting Grounds, genetically identical to the downtrodden bush elves but for their wealth, arrogance and “a giant stick rammed up their ass.” They live in an impenetrable castle in a grove of all-trees, protected by the mysterious artifact that spared them from Scolopendra’s nine-tier attack, and host the end-of-floor party at which their reclusive Queen Imogen appears. Carl’s first encounter is with a parade-perfect escort, long-lanced High Elf Guards on Moon Sambhur stags and the battle-rhino Simoom, sent to exterminate the Odious Creepers in their Liana district and to deliver Queen Imogen’s invitation (and threats) in person.
