Meld

The joining process Grigori offers as the nearest thing to a precedent for putting Corcunda back together. In a Meld one creature consumes another and the two minds combine, but whichever creature started it keeps the controlling mind. Slimes work this way, as do many demons and some kinds of succubae. Some versions wear off and some are permanent, and it is the permanent ones that send people looking for a specialist to undo them, which is the trade Grigori advertises. He has watched Meld work several times; he has never had the chance to attempt a rejoining, because two halfsies almost never survive long enough after Split Personality to need one.

• Chapter 59 — Grigori cites Meld as the only comparable working he has actually witnessed, and distinguishes it from a rejoining: in a Meld the consumer keeps the dominant personality, which is not what Corcunda's halves are being promised.
