A giant flying vampire, a Northropi, like a pelican-vulture the size of a flying giraffe with a lance-long beak, and a “bereft minion of Viscount Fog,” the late vampire-hunter whose loyal mount she was. Injured by Miriam Dom while trying to save her master, Sierra turned within a day and now hunts her first kill. Carl, ambushed in mid-air, gets a “Special Forest Encounter” boss fight: Donut’s maxed Torch sets the thing’s head ablaze and Carl finally kills it by free-falling fist-first through its chest and staking the loose, soccer-ball heart.
