Creature · debuts Book 6, Chapter 9 — “The Mock Battle Arena”
The Squonk
Level 35 · the saddest mob in the dungeon
An “Eastern United States Region Legendary Creature” summoned as an opponent in the saferoom practice arena: a knee-high, bat-faced pig-thing draped in loose, welt-covered Shar-Pei skin on thin, quivering legs. (Fan-site trivia: a nod to real-world Pennsylvania lumberjack folklore, though the book's bestiary entry doesn't specify an origin.) The Squonk is so ugly and miserable that it weeps without pause, has no attacks, and refuses to fight; the System’s own bestiary entry all but begs the reader to put it out of everyone’s misery. Donut’s practice run ends when the thing rolls onto its side, farts, bawls harder, and dissolves into a puddle on its own.
