Torpedo

The octopus Zhang and Li Na ride through the heats. Zhang's plan is to kill Torpedo from behind while Li Na has the lead saddle, on the theory that the System will then execute them both and end the killing; Carl tells him that no longer works, and that a dead mount now only costs the pair their containment — which Li Na is strong enough to reach the finish line without, and Zhang is not.

• Chapter 54 — Named as Zhang and Li Na's mount when Zhang announces he intends to kill it mid-race so the System will execute them both; Carl tells him the rule has changed and it would only strip their containment.
