Teleported back to the garage still wearing the gore, the crew showers and goes back to work, and hours later it is time for Heat Three. Because the kangaroo suit keeps Carl off the pedals, the driver's seat goes to Gluteus Maxx, the stripper who is best at Mario Kart. The System announces a new rule — a starting block shield giving each vehicle ninety seconds of invulnerability — and Carl programs eight Denial of Service missiles to use the window. Donut settles into her new talking pet throne, which she has named Dorota and which immediately starts feuding with Dr. Metcalf. Then tens of thousands of migrating sugar hermits pour down the thirty-degree track, and Carl notices Gluteus's red eyes: he has taken two of Samantha's outworlder uppers.
