The Five-Sided Coin

Walking into Hungry Eyes Village, Quemada tells Carl that Emberus sent her a vision to aid a fellow worshipper, and that she raised her fee because she expects to die attacking Hellik. Carl counts his four bad options and Eris arrives, freezing the street around him. She wants the Ascendent throne, and offers protection and a rebuilt world in exchange for true worship, an alliance with Akuma's war mages, and licence to break him down first. Her robot Uzi Jesus flips a five-sided coin carrying four fates; Carl snatches it out of the air, unlocking the fifth, and it dissolves into a slowly spinning swirl tattooed on his palm.
