Akuma Answers

Carl finds Akuma waiting in a storeroom behind the upgrade counter and refuses to meet him alone. Donut lands the planned Mute; Elle's ice bolt is not planned, and one of the war mage's testicles is frozen and shattered. Imani then seals him in an anti-magic shield, which drains a creature made of magic — a clock that buys Carl a few minutes of answers before the health bar runs red.

Book 8 appearances

• Chapter 37 — Carl disarms the disintegration trap on the hidden door and calls Akuma out; Elle sets the terms, and the three hired mercenaries retreat to the back wall.
• Chapter 38 — Akuma answers under the shield until his health enters the red, and Carl breaks his nose when he admits he arranged the two-team kill order on purpose.
• Chapter 39 — Ends unfinished at about 2% health when an imp finds Hickster's corpse; Carl continues the questions in chat and gets nowhere.
