Princess Donut's Conservatorship

Chandra's filings put Princess Donut under a conservatorship with Carl named her guardian, on the argument that Donut's species is not yet recognised by the Syndicate as a legally competent racial entity and her assets therefore require a custodian. Chandra faults Quasar for never having asserted this. A short conversation and a discreet payment to a district judge's reelection campaign then gets Chandra assigned as Donut's attorney, giving her the run of both financial empires. The court order is the first page she slides across the table.

• Chapter 0 — Donut reads the order without lashing out, which Chandra takes for defeat, then works through the rest of the stack: the lawsuit rerouting all future funding and royalties into Chandra's trust, the seizure of the Princess Posse's accounts, the brief challenging the Donut Holes' sponsorship, a corporation formed to attach damages to anyone using Donut's likeness, and the subpoena for the Donut Holes' books.
