Garret (the Tummy Acher)

Tserendolgor's pet “tummy acher”: a giggling, near-spherical damage tank on two stubby legs that can swallow almost anything whole (Samantha claims a ten-times-resurrected one once ate a small dragon). Garret is practically immortal: each death he regenerates tougher but gains a fresh weakness, and every fifth death resets him to level one and wipes his bond. Ren kills him with the Sylvan-crystal Knife of Frozen Tears so he'll reset and rebond with Carl, then wills him over in a pet carrier with his known weaknesses (Sylvan crystal, hobgoblin sweat, a rivenwing's bite, undead flesh, plus a new one, “Reaper Gaze”). Carl can finally take a second pet down the stairs now that he owns a carrier.

Book 6 appearances

• Chapter 58 — Fights at Ren’s side as her tank pet through the Capitol card battle.
• Chapter 59 — Ren kills him with the Knife of Frozen Tears to reset and rebond him, then wills the level-one meatball to Carl in a pet carrier.
• Chapter 60 — Rides in Carl’s inventory; Mordecai advises keeping him boxed until there’s time to bond, and Samantha lobbies hard to keep “the round guy.”
