Ghommids

Spirit-creatures from beyond the veil

A catch-all System term for ordinary other-realm creatures: visitors from the land of the dead who slip across wherever the veil runs thin, like cemeteries. They come in endless, often one-of-a-kind shapes (a person made entirely of mouths, a long-chinned hairy elf, a flaming-eared obese man walking on his hands) and mostly settle quietly into villages and jobs; most are harmless, some cute, some merely gross. But a Ghommid settlement is inherently unstable, and when a malign spirit arrives it can turn the whole “unsettled” populace into a ravenous, soul-hungry horde: a corrupted town a party must purge from the inside. Their non-corporeal ice attacks pass through armor and freeze a limb solid; the System names one of them “Kipper” — normally the dishwasher at the Dirt Nap.
