Asojano, Lord of Smallpox
The boss of the corrupted Ghommid town: a non-corporeal Orisha (one of the old Yoruba/Santería deities “made flesh” during the rise of the Ascendency), long since reduced, as his worshippers died out and his temples crumbled, to just another ghommid able to visit the world only on rare occasion. Bone-white and reeking of rot, his face hidden beneath a waist-length straw headdress, he is disease incarnate (he both kills and heals), trailing black tendrils and a twelve-inch plague aura and bumping into things because he can't see past his own hat. He came to this town merely to look on what he'd lost; his lingering power drove the residents mad. His shrine-staff has stopped working, so he begs the Santero Paz to repair his shrine in the central Club Vanquisher so he can leave, his health quietly draining whenever he's indoors. Sister Ines, terrified of “false gods,” nearly comes apart at the sight of him.
