Jurgen

A large bearded crawler who was one of Carl's generals on the previous floor and now races with Prepotente. He swings between cheerful and frighteningly intense, and was a ruthless and efficient force on the battlefield. In Hungry Eyes he buys two skewers of unexaminable mystery meat on a hunch that the right food will speed up their mount, and vomits it across the sidewalk minutes later. His pregnant wife, Heidi, is up in the kinder facility, and he talks to her as though she were beside him.

Book 8 appearances

• Chapter 14 — Argues with Prepotente outside the Lollipop about health inspections and speed-boosting food, eats two meat skewers and immediately throws them back up.
• Chapter 15 — Recovered enough to press Florin on Lucia Mar, and offers to make any rival team understand what is coming if crawler ends up racing crawler.
• Chapter 16 — Returns to the table with an armful of drinks as Prepotente's biscuit conversation ends.
